	Regional Information

	The Belgrade area boasts a chain of seven pristine lakes. Each is unique and beautiful in its own way. La Posa is located on Long Pond sandwiched between two quiet and charming villages. Belgrade, located between Long Pond and Great Pond is a lively little community with many fine restaurants, artisan craft shops and antique stores. Day's Country store sells food items, meats, sandwiches, toiletry items, crafts, souvenirs and, of course, lives, fresh, Maine lobster. It is accessible by boat or by car. Mt. Vernon, located only four miles from La Posa, has a country store and hardware store, charming shops and a small cafe. It also has a quiet swimming hole. La Posa is located about 1 hour 15 minutes from Portland, and 20 minutes from Augusta, Waterville and Farmington. It is also only a short drive to the Maine Coast: Reid State Park, Bath, Boothbay Harbor, etc. A day at the coast is a simple and worthwhile trip.

	From Portland, Maine or Boston, Massachusettes take Interstate 95 to the The Augusta/Belgrade exit with a sign reading Route 11, 27. Take the exit (route 27) towards Belgrade. Go 10-12 miles until you see a Lake and Country Real Estate building on your right. Make a left onto the street across from that building called Castle Island Road. Follow Castle Island Road through the Castle Island Camps. Turn Left onto La Posa Drive (It is a handpainted sign with a loon on it). La Posa will be on your Left. It is a white house with a red door, 28 La Posa Drive.

The suites are fully furnished with towels, linens, and fully equipped kitchens with pots and pans, cooking utensils, microwaves etc. Many of the suites also feature fireplaces. Firewood is provided. A coin operated washer and dryer is on site. We offer cable TV, VCR, heat, hot water, and electricity. We also provide lawn/ beach chairs.

Just around the corner are many beautiful hiking trails and sightseeing spots. Belgrade's chain of lakes offers various water activities including swimming, boating, waterskiing, parasailing, fishing and kayaking. Motor boats, kayaks and canoes are available for rent at nearby marinas. La Posa is also only an arm's reach from the famous Maine coast (about 1 hour by car). Many of the nearby towns offer live theater and music, museums and cinemas. Shopping is available in the quaint villages of Belgrade and Mt. Vernon and also in Freeport (about 45 minutes by car) where one will find the famous LL Bean Outlet store and others. If you love to golf visit the beautiful world class Harold Alfond golf course which is only a couple of miles from home. Other activities include Snow Skiing and Cross Country Skiing (we are only 1 hour from Sugarloaf), Biking, Hunting, Wildlife Viewing, Horseback Riding, Tennis, and Basketball.






	OUR SUITES AND CABINS: There are 5 units available for rent within the estate. All of the suites and cabins have been newly renovated and furnished with original antique furniture from the Elizabeth Arden Beauty Spa and others. Three of the five units are private cabins with lake views which are connected to the main house by walls but not by doors. They are spacious with high ceilings and plenty of living space. There is one bedroom, one bathroom, a full kitchen and a living room/ dining room combination area. These cabins rent weekly at $600.00/wk. La Posa also offers two suites. The first of the suites is located on the second floor with balconies which overlook the yard and the lake beyond. There are two bedrooms connected by glass French double doors. One of the bedrooms has a lofted ceiling with exposed beams which have been painted and manicured. There is one bathroom with a tub/shower combination, a spacious living room and dining area and a small but fully equipped kitchen with a full sized refrigerator, stove, oven, a large sink, a microwave and plenty of cabinet space. The suite also features two fireplaces. It rents weekly at $900.00/wk. The second suite is very private and located on the first floor of the estate. It is what used to be the help's quarters. The rooms are small and cozy. There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, a living room, a dining room, a full kitchen and a small bonus room which could be converted into a third bedroom to accommodate a party of six if necessary. The suite offers a view of the woods and of the lake beyond. It rents weekly at $700.00/ week RENTAL OF THE ENTIRE ESTATE: La Posa Estate is able to accomodate up to 26 guests! It is the ideal spot for those seeking a place to have a wedding, family reunion, business vacation or any large party or get-together. There are 12 full bedrooms in the house, 10 bathrooms, 6 kitchens, 5 living rooms, 1 large dining room with an extra-large antique table which seats up to 20 people. There are fireplaces in most rooms with firewood provided for cool summer evenings. There is also a coin operated laundry facility in the basement. La Posa features spacious lawns and easy access to the water with a sandy beach and 100 feet of private water frontage. Just let us know how many people are in your party and how many bedrooms you will need and we'll accomodate you! The entire estate rents for $4000.00/wk. We will adjust our rates for smaller parties. We make an effort to accommodate you. If there is anything else you may need or require please just ask and we will do our best to assist you. Some of the units are accessible to the handicapped although we do not yet have a ramp to facilitate entry into the units. Please call with any questions or concerns.
