Lee County is located on Florida's Southwest coast directly on the Gulf of Mexico. It is situated approximately 2 hours south of Tampa, 2 hours west of Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, and over three hours southwest of Orlando. It encompasses 1,005 square miles including 220 square miles of water.
Lee County offers some of the best beaches in the State of Florida. The beaches of Sanibel and Captiva Island are famous for their shelling and wildlife.
Lee County's coastline boasts abundant waterways for boating, fishing, or just having fun. Dolphin and Manatee sightseeing tours, charter fishing in the Gulf of Mexico or bays, sunset cruises, eco-friendly kayak tours all are available in many locations throughout Lee County. For the more adventurous, sailing lessons, boat and personal watercraft rentals and parasailing are also available.

Fort Myers Beach is a fun family vacation area. Public parks at Fort Myers Beach, Bonita Beach, and Lovers' Key offer scenic sunset views and your choice of privacy or public areas including playgrounds and restaurants nearby.
Fort Myers was originally an army fort and outpost during the Seminole wars. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford maintained winter estates on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River. Fort Myers' historic downtown is enjoying a renovation and is home to professional theater, restaurants and night spots, as well as quaint and unique antique and art shopping experiences.
