Further details outdoors:
The Views are simply fantastic and I cannot honestly pick the best time of year to visit, it has beauty through every season. The cottage is visited by every kind of bird you can imagine, I think last count was 26 varieties; you are also visited by Roe deer and Red squirrels.
The gate in the back yard leads to a path through the 140 acre woodland, it drops down to the river. You can visit the famous ‘Popping Stone’ where Sir Walter Scott proposed to his lover. You are able to rome the woodlands and quiet often run into roe deer and red squirrels. If you fancy a longer walk, still only approx 2 miles, you can visit the waterfalls. The woods and river banks are a fantastic place for children to play or just to sit and appreciate the peace and quiet. If you have a dog, they will truly love it.
The local Spa Hotel, only a few hundred yards away, offers excellent eating out facilities at a reasonable price to include a Carvery on Saturday evening and Sunday lunch. Pool and Pitch and Put. From the back courtyard you are able to access a beautiful walk down to the river with breath taking views. This simply is a fantastic place to stay.
