Regional Information
The famous 18km long Patara beach is 45 minutes away by dolmus and Kas the nearby town 30 minutes. Of the historic sites in the region Saklikent Gorge, Turkey's deepest gorge, is a popular attraction.

Kalkan is a very special place - first-time visitors will invariably return time and time again.

Kalkan curls snugly around an ancient harbour sheltered at the foot of the towering Taurus Mountains. The town overlooks a beautiful bay in which islands seem to magically float upon the shimmering sea. Narrow streets twist down to the harbour through the historic town and are lined with listed whitewashed villas with shuttered windows situated alongside small local specialty shops and restaurants. Overhead hang original ornately carved Ottoman timber balconies garlanded with brilliantly coloured bougainvillea cascading to the streets below. It is a very special place.

Not only is Kalkan beautiful, but unlike other Turkish coastal resort towns Kalkan's main economy is tourism and therefore its citizens put much pride and effort into the town's historic preservation. Because of this Kalkan has retained the texture of its history with its distinctive Greek architecture (it was once a Greek and Turkish fishing village). Very strict building codes keep the town small and architecturally blended with the historic heart of the town known as "Old Kalkan".
       
       
Information specific to the town/village
The villa is located overlooking the village with a supermarket 10 minutes walk away and close to Kalkan's Thursday market. The village centre with bank, post office, shops, roof top restaurants and taxis is a further 5 minutes walk with the harbour another 5 minutes more.

The historic town of Kalkan is an enchanting place and one of the most beautiful locations along Turkey's gorgeous Lycian Coast. With the complete absence of mass tourism, Kalkan remains a charming and unspoiled haven of lush nature, brilliant blue crystal-clear sea, historic architecture, ancient history and warm traditional Turkish hospitality.

Once a simple fishing village, today’s Kalkan is quietly sophisticated and postcard pretty with a few good quality low-rise hotels and apartments and a multitude of excellent roof-top restaurants offering all manner of culinary delights together with stylish and atmospheric Blues and Jazz bars. The village shops stay open till around midnight and are well stocked with interesting antiques, crafts, jewellery, clothing and accessories. The narrow streets twist down to the harbour, which is the focus of the village and here you can enjoy a meal whilst watching the world go by or looking at the array of elegant gulets, some of which are available for private hire. During the day, you can make use of one of the local ‘beach clubs’, engage in some of the local sporting activities (such as water-skiing, para-scending, scuba-diving, trekking etc), take a trip to one of the magnificent historical sites, drive a jeep up into the mountains, cruise on a gulet or simply relax by your pool.

The facilities at the nearby high class Asfiya Hotel are available for the villa's guests and include children's pool, gym, Jacuzzi and sauna.

Due to the elevated position of the villa it does not offer wheelchair access and has a numbers of steps to the front entrance which may be difficult for the infirm. The pool has step entry but no shallow end (2m depth) and may not be suitable for young children.Access to the first floor is via an open staircase .

The terrace and pool have sun loungers and parasols, together with a BBQ in the stone-walled garden area that is at a lower level.

A car parking area is located adjacent to the main stepped entrance to the villa.

Adjacent to the shower room on the ground floor is an air conditioned double bedroom with french door access to the terrace, pool and garden.

The second floor air conditioned master bedroom has a king size bed and en-suite shower room comprising shower, wash basin & w.c together with french window access to both a private balcony and a shared balcony. The second first floor air conditioned bedroom has twin beds and access to the private and shared balconies together with an en-suite shower room containing shower, wash basin & w.c. The shared balcony overlooks the terrace , pool and garden.

The villa sleeps 8 , 3 double bedrooms and sofabed , the upstairs pair of bedrooms having en-suite shower rooms and the third downstairs bedroom having direct access to separate bathroom, terrace and pool. The lounge, open plan dining area, well equipped kitchen and downstairs shower room complete the downstairs accommodation.

The rooms are light and airy with the upstairs balcony, roof terrace and poolside terrace all providing stunning views of the village, harbour and bay. There is a welcome pack on arrival containing bread, milk, cheese, butter, tea & coffee and villa & pool cleaning daily with a linen change twice weekly.

The spiral staircase continues up to the roof terrace which provides the best panoramic views.

Access to the first floor is via an open spiral staircase (not suitable for young children and the elderly).

The villa is air-conditioned.
