	Nearby you have : - Cabo Espichel A short drive or a 30-minute bus journey from Sesimbra leads to windswept Cabo Espichel, quite a mystical and eerie cape. The views of the coast and ocean are stunning, with cliffs dropping almost vertically several hundred feet into the Atlantic. The cape was once an important pilgrimage site, and there is an abandoned 17th century convent that will soon be turned into a pousada. Behind it is a domed chapel with tile panels depicting fishing scenes. - Arrabida Natural Park Arr�bida is a spectacular landscape. The Hills, the Natural Park, the beaches and the historical buildings show how the best of nature can lead to best of Mankind, if people are able to integrate natural elements into their daily leisure life, without ever failing to preserve and protect them. The Parque Natural da Arr�bida extends from the Morro de Palmela to Cabo Espichel, and includes three full botanical and landscape reserves. It also has a zoological reserve on the islet Ilh�u da Pedra da Anixa, which includes the Parque Marinho da Arr�bida, with fully protected species. -Natural Reserve of Sado Estuary Further south, the Sado Estuary has another important Nature Reserve. This vast estuary communicates with the Atlantic Ocean. The notably diverse landscape of the 25,000 hectare Reserve includes dunes with rare vegetation cover, sandbanks, reed beds and thickets. But the main attraction of the reserve is the dozens of dolphins that live in the estuary, unique in Portugal and very easily observed. Other endangered species in the zone include the Barbastelle bat and the otter. Herons, white swans and flamingos are the symbol of the area. In such a dramatic and pristine setting, it is not surprising that large dinosaur footprints were found nearby on Lagosteiros Beach.


	Information specific to the town/village

	Sesimbra is a tiny fishing village in a sheltered bay overlooked by a Moorish castle that also encloses a 12th century church and affords wonderful views from its ramparts. It became a notable location the middle 1950s when this village attracting the world famous enthusiasts of deep-sea fishing. The Tuna and Swordfish has now become more rare as a catch but they can still often be served as a specialty dish of the area. Small narrow steep streets lead down to its sandy beach guarded by its 17th Century Fort overlooking the sea, a good starting point for a scenic walk before hitting the beach that, although crowded in the summer, has unpolluted waters ideal for swimming. In late afternoon the fishing boats return and there's a fish auction on the dockside. That same fresh fish can be sampled at one of the several restaurants along the shore.


	Additional travel details

	The apartment is located uphill inside Sesimbra, 5 minutes walking from the California Beach. Also 5 minutes walking and you are in the center of Sesimbra. Nearby you must visit Azeitão, Palmela, Setúbal, and the beautiful Arrábida. The área is a paradise for golfers with 6 golf courses within ½ hour of driving.

The apartment of 50 m2 is divided in 2 floors. When you walk in the door you have on your left the bathroom with shower. Next you arrive to the living room. The living room features a dining table, 4 chairs, TV and a convertible couch. A stair case let you up to the 1st floor. Here you find another living room, the double bedroom, the kitchenette, and a terrace. From the terrace you have a view of Sesimbra and the Atlantic Ocean. The kitchenette features a 2 range stove, a small fridge and all the utensils and dishes you will need during your stay and to make you feel at home! The apartment is always pleasantly cool in the summer and comfy in the winter - we never had to turn on the heat! Sheets and towels are provided! All you need is your bathing suit and some sun protection - even in the winter months it is a good idea!
