Stretching from the Spanish frontier to the Atlantic Ocean,the Beiras form the dividing line between the mild green north and the hot parched south.The region encompasses the mountains of the Serra de Estrela and the salt marshes of Aveiro,and its towns vary from the lively Figueira de Foz to the stately old capital of Coimbra.The Knights Templar town of Tomar is 40 kms south from the villa,the town is famous for its magnificent Convento do Christo which overlooks the landscape . The roman ruins of Conimbriga are a 10 minute drive by car where you can see some of the best preserved mosaics in Europe.

Take the condexia turn off the A1 motorway and head for Tomar/Penela.When you see the town of Penela on the left carry on the road for 200 mtrs and take the sign on the right for Mestre.The house is approx 200mtrs on the right hand side.
