| Regional Information |
|
|
Sicily is the largest region of Italy and the Mediterranean. E 'for centuries considered a land of tourism and holidays. It 'a wonderful land, rich in history and culture. The atmosphere still recalls the glories of ancient Greece and the Arab and Norman. Spending the holidays in Sicily is like taking a leap in history to come back to dive in the pristine nature that you can find.

| Information specific to the town/village |
|
Castellammare del Golfo, in the consolidated views of history or geography, was born as an emporium of the city of Segesta.
The place, ie, where the elimination, the mysterious ancient people were practicing their trade with foreign ships.
The history of the town in the gulf, is identified at least until all'827d. C., when Arabic will become that of gesta If, as this subi 'the same events.
In perpetual conflict with the Greeks of nearby Selinunte, which recruited often bloody battles, the center always Elimo orbit around the Carthaginian power dell'emporio Segesta, who had one of the most important fortified stations of the basin north of Sicily.
Down the star on the greek, the Carthaginian power was then measured with much more fierce enemies, the Romans.
Punic Wars, in fact, were the last act of the story cartaginesee thus also of Segesta, but not of the emporium.
The winners, in fact, fully understanding the importance, the restocking retaining and strengthening the military.
They were then the Arabs which connotes the center, renamed Al Madarig, or "steps", perhaps of the mountain that dominates the village as a stronghold, made impregnable by the construction of the fortress and as a center of great commercial importance, with l ' installation of the trap and the shipper.
The next time Norman and Swabian, between 1071 and 1282, little information has come to us, but it is likely that they have more and better fortified Al Madarig that with the construction of the fortress on the sea, to be called Castello a mare , it must be, to the Aragonese, which the city went after Vespers, the final version of the mighty fortress.
In the Aragonese period (1221-1410), then, the city was the baronial land owned by Frederick of Antioch and became important commercial center of the grain bound for export.
The further development of Castellammare del Golfo, with some fortune that has kept its status of the port, and then attributed to the period from the seventeenth century from the nineteenth, when the city saw an increasingly significant development.
Castellamare today, despite having exhausted its historical role, is an important commercial center and port in its place is a significant export trade in agricultural products.
Thanks also to a heritage of inestimable value, consisting of the extraordinary natural beauty of its coastline and its immediate hinterland, Castellammare del Golfo was justified in the proposal as an important tourist attraction that can offer much to visitors

If you arrive at Palermo by air or by ship it’s enough to join the motorway Palermo – Trapani (H 29) and after about 30 minutes, to leave the motorway at the way out for Castellammare del Golfo. After only 3 minutes you are already inside the little town. You can rent a car at the airport or at Castellammare or, if you like, you can only ask about the transfer from the airport to Castellammare (if it’s possible we can take care of everything). If you arrive by train, when you arrive at the railway station of Castellammare (about 1 Km from C. d. G.) phone us and we will meet you at the r. station. (The service is free of charge).
