|
Our's is a rural region and we're surrounded by miles of open country. There's a strong culinary tradition (cassoulet is the local speciality) and Revel, our nearby town, hosts the region's best fresh food market every Saturday (when it takes over the whole of the town centre).
There's plenty to see and do. All of the following are within 30 minutes drive - canoeing, mountain walking, windsurfing, pedalos, horse-rising, go-karts, caves, an adventure theme park, mountain biking. The medieval cities of Albi (cathedral, Toulouse Lautrec museum, winding street) and Carcassonne (walled city is a World Heritage Site) are an hour's drive, as is the major city of Toulouse. The beaches of the Mediterranean and the peaks of the Pyrenees are an hour and a half away.

Enjoying wide views of the Montagnes Noires, Dournes is situated in the countryside, 8km NE of Revel, off the D622 Route de Castres. It is on the borders of the Tarn and Haute Garonne departments. The airports of Carcassonne and Toulousse are an hour's drive away.

The 15 acres are a mixture of lawns and mature woodland: we're not overlooked from any angle. The 20m pool is shared by the two properties and is heated. We've garden furniture (seating 20) and pool furniture (8 sun loungers, 5 deck chairs) and a hammock.

The Chateau is finished with both antiques and more modern furniture. It sleeps 7. The ground floor has a lounge, chinese sitting room, study, games room (full size snooker table and table football, dart board, TV), dining room (mahogany table seats 12 under a chandelier), kitchen and utility: the upper floor has 5 bedrooms (master is ensuite with dressing room, 1 other ensuite). There are two other bedrooms (and lounge, kitchen and bathroom) in a separate, 'caretaker's' apartment which sleeps 3 more and which we rent with the Chateau free of charge.

Please note that the Chateau shares its location and pool with a nearby Farmhouse which we also rent (letaholidayhome property 461). The two are very separate but can be rented together at a reduced rate to ensure maximum privacy.
