	Regional Information

	Pamporovo lies in the beautiful tree-covered Rhodope mountains, 250km from Sofia and 85km from the country's historic second city, Plovdiv. Nearby is the town of Smolyan which has a pedestrianised shopping street. For the historically and culturally minded, there is a famous monastery at Bachkovo, about 45 minutes drive away.


	Information specific to the town/village

	Pamporovo has more than 20km of ski tracks ranging from a long green run ideal for beginners right up to black slopes such as 'The Wall' - a name that describes its challenge perfectly. Skiing costs in Pamporovo are quite exceptional value for money. A daily lift pass is £17-18 (only £12 after 12.30), and boots and skis can be hired from £5-6 a day. The ski schools are of a very high standard and also remarkably cheap with a two-hour private lesson costing only about £18. The mountain is covered in pine forest, so you ski through beautiful scenery. It also makes just sitting in one of the many mountain cafes and watching people ski past a very pleasant way to spend an hour or two. There are many great value restaurants, bars and night clubs in the resort. A half-litre of beer is around £1 and a full meal with wine would be about £7-10 a head. A number of restaurants offer free transport in both directions, which saves on taxi fares.


	Additional travel details

	You can fly to either Sofia or Plovdiv airports. Easyjet and WizzAir are two low-cost airlines which fly to Sofia from the UK, as well as airlines such as BA and Bulgaria Air. Plovdiv is mainly used by charter companies such as Balkan Holidays etc. From Sofia, you drive on the motorway to Plovdiv then take the road through Asenovgrad up the mountain to Pamporovo. If arriving at Plovdiv, the airport road joins this route. If you are driving, we will send you detailed instructions on how to get to the apartment. It takes about 2 hrs 45 mins from Sofia and 1 hr 15 mins from Plovdiv. Alternatively you can get transfers (we can help with companies and contacts), taxis or public transport. For example, you can get a bus or taxi into Sofia and catch one of several buses a day that come direct to the resort. These are remarkably cheap at about £6 single.

Information about the utilities available

The kitchen area is fully equipped with oven, hobs, fridge, kettle and toaster. There is a full set of crockery and glassware.

For entertainment, there is a TV plus DVD and CD players. Broadband is available at a small charge per day or week.

All linens and towels are included.

Information about outside of the property

The apartment is located in a complex called the Pamporovo Castle, which has a great location on the edge of the pine forest and next to a small ski run.

This means you can ski straight down to one of the ski centres then get on a lift which takes you back up to the middle station. Alternatively, you can walk about 250 metres up to the middle station where there are restaurants and bars and lifts and runs to the rest of the resort.

The complex has a bar (with happy hour from 6-7pm!) and two restaurants serving Bulgarian and English/International dishes.

Also on site is a fitness centre which offers a gym, jacuzzi and massage - very nice after an aching day on the slopes!

Information about inside of the property

The studio consists of an entrance hall, separate WC/shower room, and the main room.

The main room contains a kitchen area (set apart from the rest of the living area), plus double bed and single chair/sofa bed. As well as the TV etc, there is a log fireplace.

There is plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space.

Other activities available

There is an adventure company located in the same complex as the apartment. They offer snowmobile and 4 x 4 Snowcat hire, and paintball. In the main part of town, there are swimming pools and bowling alleys located in other hotels but which are available to anyone at a small charge.
